Poverty is a widespread global issue, especially in Indonesia.
Indonesia is classified as one of the poorest countries in the world, with almost all of it’s rural and urban areas in poverty, living on less than 2.50$ a day. But what causes poverty? Because having no money is only one side of being poor. The big elephant in the room is a bad governance, aka corruption, which you can sadly see everywhere, especially in the poorest countries. So we see, that corruption and poverty go hand in hand and in the same direction. While poverty invites corruption, corruption deepens poverty. They both cause weaknesses in the economy, politics and within the social circle. So if you’re asking where the money goes, to feed the poor or work on the infrastructure, it’s probably in the hands of the rich. Extensive studies that analysed the causes of poverty proved, that one of the major causes of poverty were the inability of households to invest in proper education. Some might say, that the lack off education is the root cause of poverty. A good education is essential in building a future for an individual. Without an education, it’s very difficult to find a well paying job. Taking away the education of a person, is like taking away it’s human potential.
